2019 Aileen Primero Memorial Tournament

Date: November 9th, 2019

Venue: South Gym, Recreation Center (1400 E. 6th Street, Tucson, AZ 85721)

 

Tournament Schedule: 

Registration: Starts at 8:00 am at the South Gym

Men's and Women's Singles: Starts at 8:30 am 

U-14 Boys and Girls Singles: Starts at 12:00 pm

Men's and Women's Doubles: Starts at 1:00 pm

U-18 Boys and Girls Singles: Starts at 4:00 pm

Mixed Doubles: Starts at 5:00 pm

Tournament Brackets: 

MS, WS, MD, WD, XD, U-14 Boys, U-14 Girls, U-18 Boys, U-18 Girls

Events: Under-14 Singles, Under-18 Singles, Open Singles,
Open Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

Fee per player: Fee includes rec center access, shuttles, lunch, and refreshments.

1 Event: $25      2 Events: $30      3 Events: $35      4 Events: $40

NOTE:

  • University of Arizona badminton club members receive $5 discount.

  • Kids under the age of 18 years receive a $10 discount.

  • The maximum number of events allowed per person is 4.

Tournament Format: 

We will be following the ABCD Drop Flight format of play.

If an event has less than 16 entries, then we will follow Single Elimination format
with a consolation draw.

We are giving away trophies to winners and runners of all divisions. Light refreshments,

snacks, and lunch will be provided on the day of the tournament.

Game Rules:

  • All games will be played for 3 sets of 21 points.

  • At 20-20, the side which gains a two-point lead first wins the game.

  • At 29-29, the side scoring the 30th point wins the game.

  • The side winning a game serves first in the next game.

  • A two-minute break between each game is allowed.

  • When the leading score reaches 11 points, players may take a 60-second break if needed.
